FINE Furniture
These pieces of furniture have been made by Steven Wilson. Some pieces are influenced by period furniture and some are his own designs. These pieces are both elegant and functional. Steven Wilson constructs all of his furniture using traditional construction methods such as hand cut dovetails and mortice and tenon joints and carefully selects all timber used. All furniture is constructed to enable the timber to expand and shrink with the seasons and this helps the furniture to keep its original form with out splitting.
Two of these tables were commissioned, one being used for a desk and the other as a crafts/drawing table. They were made out of Victorian Ash with Jarrah Burl inlay.
Art Deco Inspiration
The Iris dining table and console table takes its inspiration from the art deco designs of Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann. It combines the use of Australian woods, non harmful finishes and the use of solid timbers and timber inlays. The table has been constructed using Victorian ash, Tasmanian oak burls, Jarrah, Jarrah burls, Blackwood and Blackwood burls. The elegant shape and proportions of the table, along with the excellence in craftsmanship, make this a beautiful dining table which is both highly functional and distinctive in appearance.
These bookcases are 3 meters tall and 2 meters wide. The doors are off an original wall unit that was in another part of the house which was damaged by flooding. They are made out of American Yellow Pine and were stained and french polished to match the fire surround.
Flow has been designed and created by Steven Wilson. Made from Blackwood with custom glass by Ettore Di Pilla.
The carvings on the legs depict delicate Morning glory leaves winding down the legs. The timber has been polished in shellac and has a tool edge finish, no sand paper was used.
The Illusion dining chair has been designed to go with the Iris dining table. The simplicity of this chair compliments the beauty of the table without crowding it. The single back leg has been shaped to contour with your back. The shape of the leg has led to an interesting quirk, as you stand either side of the back leg it appears to be twisted, even though the leg has been made square
Thi 12 drawer entertainment unit is made out of European Oak. The dovetailed drawers were fitted out for dvd storage.
This is one of two beds made for the same room. The other bed is a mirror image of this one. The bed is made of European Beech and has hanging space behind the doors.
This Long Case Clock is a commissioned piece made out of solid Jarrah with 2mm Jarrah Burl veneer. With mouldings made out of cross banded Blackwood and turnings made out of Burl Huon Pine. The clock is a 3 box construction, all assembled using hand cut Dovetails. All the componentry has been made to allow for the natural movement of the timber
